ANY NEW BOOK BY GERTRUDE HIMMELFARB...
...is bound to be, at least, interesting and, at most, thrilling (if you get shudders of delight from flashes that sharply illuminate the history of ideas). Obviously, this reviewer has just experienced the Himmelfarb effect.
