  1. John Williams' Peanut Butter and Jolly Drive!

After hearing food banks were experiencing a shortage on one of their most important staples, peanut butter, we got a nutty idea. So, we spread the word and started a one day peanut butter drive. In a Jif, we had 18 listeners offer their businesses as donation locations throughout the Chicagoland area. The next day, our wonderful listeners Skippy-ed on over to a collection site and donated. Everything went smoothly. Because of you we collected... 4,500 jars of peanut butter! We also received a $1,000 donation!

  11. The Stanley Cup comes to Tribune Tower... in paint

UPDATED: Artist Elliott From returned to WGN Radio Thursday to add the Stanley Cup to his Blackhawks mural. Less than 24 hours earlier, the Chicago Blackhawks had won their first Stanley Cup in nearly half a century. The artist returned to add the Cup to the mural he created Monday on the temporary plywood that is currently replacing a large pane of glass that had been damaged. Within 24 hours, the mural is likely to be seen by thousands of Blackhawks fans walking to the championship rally, to be held Friday morning less than a block away from the WGN Radio studios.

  17. John Williams and the People's Tree!

It started out as a rant; now it's a tree. Hearing the city's cost would be $100,000 to stand a tree in Daley Plaza, John Williams said, "I'll bet my buddies and I could do THAT for less."

Earlier in this list we mentioned the passing of Paul Harvey and Ed Schwartz. In June, the WGN Radio family lost another member.
