    Chicago's First Lady and the Chicago Architecture Foundation are supporting Chicago's most neglected animals with the donation of a cruise line vessel and architecture docent to benefit Tree House Humane Society, Chicago's premier cageless, no-kill shelter specializing in the care and treatment of sick, injured, and abused stray cats. This "Puss-n-Boats"  architecture cruise is the perfect way to spend Mother's Day this year as the cruise is on Sunday, May 13th at 3:45 p.m. and boasts complimentary snacks, a family atmosphere, including flowers for those celebrating Motherâ s Day, and a 90-minute narrated Chicago River architecture cruise with commentary on famous riverfront architecture including 17 bridges, and 82 buildings and landmarks. Steve Dale, host of Petcasts and Saturday morning contributor for Chicago's WGN Radio, will serve as unofficial skipper and will entertain the guests with animal stories and answer questions on training and behavior.

  21. Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Presents: Through Ella's Eyes- A 95th Birthday Celebration

    The Chicago Jazz Philharmonic (CJP), in partnership with the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, continues its 2011-2012 concert season at the Auditorium Theater of Roosevelt University on Saturday, March 31, at 8:00pm with, "Through Ella's Eyes – A 95th Birthday Celebration." This performance will pay homage to the First Lady of Song, Ella Fitzgerald, in honor of what would have been her 95th birthday.  The program will include Chicago Jazz Philharmonic's full orchestra (55 pieces) and will feature four of Chicago's most celebrated vocalists, Dee Alexander, Jackie Allen, Bobbi Wilsyn, and Joan Collaso, giving tribute to the legacy that is Ella Fitzgerald, all in the acoustically perfect setting of the Auditorium Theatre.  Through creative use of modern video and audio technology, Ella herself will be virtually present and swingin' with live accompaniment from the orchestra!  Longtime Chicago newscaster, Merri Dee, will preside as mistress of ceremonies.
