In 2011-2012, John Wiedeman enters his sixth season as the radio play-by-play voice of Blackhawks hockey.
Wiedeman had served as the radio play-by-play voice of the Islanders from 2001-2002 to 2005-2006. Prior to joining the Islanders broadcast team, Wiedeman spent four seasons as the radio play-by-play voice and Director of Media Relations for the Cincinnati Cyclones of the IHL. While in Cincinnati, Wiedeman was also a substitute broadcaster for the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets. In 1996-97, he served as the radio play-by-play broadcaster for the Philadelphia Flyers, a season in which the Flyers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals.
A graduate of the University of Kansas and an avid hockey player, Wiedeman and his wife, Kelly, have two children, a daughter, Reilly, and a son, Sean Patrick.
