In commemoration of this anniversary, Extension 720 tonight focuses on famous Chicago authors, including Bellow and Dreiser, with ROBERT LANDERS, author of the new book An Honest Writer: The Life and Times of James T. Farrell, KEITH GANDAL, professor of English at Northern Illinois University, and DAVID SCHMITTGENS, who teaches English at New Trier High School.

PATRICK O’DONNELL, author of the new book Operatives, Spies, and Saboteurs: The Unknown Story of the Men and Women of World War II's OSS, has collected many fascinating stories from the OSS and will be joined by two veterans of the service, SPIRO CAPPONY and JOHN GIANNARI.

Mel Gibson’s new film has ignited a storm of controversy, relating to its reported anti-Semitism and its gory depiction of Jesus’ death. On hand will be MARTIN MARTY, an old friend of the program, renowned theologian, and author of Martin Luther, a new biography of the key figure of the Reformation. A world-renowned scientist and author, Professor Greene’s bestselling book The Elegant Universe was featured on PBS series Nova.
