(WGN-AM)- Six people were injured late Friday afternoon in an accident in the southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan Expressway at West 63rd Street.

Five ambulances and four fire trucks were called to the scene in response to a person trapped in a car from the accident, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. The person was extracted successfully.

He said the six were taken to area hospitals in serious-to-critical condition.

State Police reported four cars were involved in the accident, and could only confirm information on two people who were seriously injured and transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
