Judy Pielach

News reporter/anchor Judy Pielach is a Chicago native, born and raised on the Northwest Side in Bucktown. She's a graduate of Southern Illinois University, where she earned degrees in Radio and Television and Political Science.

You've heard Judy on the air at WGN Radio since 1986, but her association with the station began after college -- in 1982, when she worked at WGN-TV as a promotions intern. She ended up staying more than a year, before landing a temporary position as a news writer at WGN Radio. From there, she went on to work for WIVS/WXET in Crystal Lake. In 1985, she became news director. But the following year, she left for her first love, WGN Radio.

Judy's won numerous awards throughout her career at WGN, including two Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards for Best Series. One, "Smack in the Suburbs," was on heroin use. The other, "Why Not Me?" chronicled her battle with Breast Cancer. She also won the 2007 AP Award for best reporter.
