Paula Cooper |
Paula Cooper was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri--the Queen City of the Ozarks. During a summer break between college semesters, Paula saw an advertisement by an airline offering positions as flight attendants. Thinking that she wanted to see more of the real word, she decided that was for her. After 13 years of flying the friendly (and not so friendly) skies, Paula decided there was more to life than serving Coke and Sprite.
Paula returned to college and discovered the magic of television and radio. She was offered and accepted a position as news reporter at WDCB in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Paula was soon promoted to the position of afternoon driver anchor.
From there, Paula served as an intern in the newsroom at WGN Radio in Chicago. After the internship, WGN hired Paula as producer for Ian Punnett. She then moved on up to produce overnights for Steve King and Johnnie Putman.
An opportunity to work in another medium inspired Paula to move on to a new and original idea in television programming--a satellite channel devoted to agriculture and business. Channel Earth was well received, but due to financial difficulties the station folded after one year.
Paula soon found herself reporting news at Metro Networks for several Chicago radio stations. She reported news and/or traffic for stations including WUBT, WNND, WUSN and WAIT, working with personalities including Larry Lujack.
Recently, Paula returned to her roots at Chicago's News and Talk, WGN Radio 720 as the overnight news anchor. Paula is pleased to be working among her old friends and co-workers once again. She is happy to tell anyone who will listen that at this point in her radio career, she is exactly where she wants to be. You can hear Paula reporting Sunday nights into Friday mornings alongside Steve King and Johnnie Putman.
