Two Ogden District police officers were uninjured when a bullet hit the rear of their police SUV as they waited for a tow truck for a vehicle that had been in an accident in Lawndale early this morning.
The officers were near 13th Street and Lawndale Avenue, inside the 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, when they heard a gunshot and felt something hit the SUV about 3:30 a.m., said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
The officers were unable to figure out where the round came from, but found that it struck their vehicle on the rear tailgate, just above the license plate.
An evidence technician was called, but information about the type of bullet was not available this afternoon.
