DENVER -- Thousands of people started lining up at Invesco Field at Mile High way before sunrise Friday for a chance to perform a quick audition for producers of "American Idol."

They came from all over the country for their chance at stardom. Who knows, the next American Idol might have been standing in that crowd.

This is the third time since the show started that auditions have been held in Denver. Auditions in the Mile High City produced the likes of top Idol finalists Ace Young in 2005 and Casey James in 2009.
